adventure austin day five.
months ago, in the middle of the night, the alarm clock rang.
the computer was booted up, the email composed & the minutes ticked away
till the golden hour of midnight.
email sent.
hours passed.
no word.
no confirmation.
then finally the golden email dropped into my inbox.
our FRANKLINS preorder made the list !!
we were going to be the recipients of brisket, ribs and sausage -
without the line !!
our day has come.
we parked blocks away.
we cut the line of hundreds.
we smiled in the warm smell of barbecue.
we walked out with bags and smiles as big as texas.
we chatted with the folks waiting since 6am.
we shared our preorder secret.

the food was served at 11am.
the kitchen was quiet.

the food melted in our mouth.
the sauce dripped down our chins.
the line for seconds was long.
