i scanned the football field tonight to catch a glimpse of colin
and for a brief second, i couldn't find him.
there are 5 or 6 teams practicing on the fields.
there are 100 boys running around in the 90 degree heat.
there are chairs in a bag scattered everywhere.
there are parents, grandparents & siblings walking the sidelines.
there are whistles blowing everywhere.
there are play calls being tossed in the air in all directions.
i scanned the football field to catch a glimpse of colin

is that him?
when did he grow up?
when did he get so big?
where is my curly colin toddler?
where is my always smiling colin?
who is this 10 year old dude with a serious play face on
with wild curly hair?
who is this 10 year old listening and following each of
coaches words without hesitation?
is that him?
yikes - it is!
colin is growing up right in front of my eyes
despite all my wishes to freeze time right now.
i am in awe.
i have found colin on the field - just a little bigger,
a little faster, a little older than i wished.
i will cherish each and everyday.
