colin is at THAT age.
the age when he is finally questioning the whole santa thing.
i know.
he's nine.
but remember, he does not ride the school bus.
no santa stories being shared in the last seat for this dude.
i know.
he's nine.
and he has not one, but two older brothers who haven't tipped him on.
(they were threatened, by me, i'm sure at one point)
-
a couple weeks ago, he asked why santa had the same wrapping paper that i did last year.
a couple weeks ago, he actually put his head in the fireplace.
a couple weeks ago, he asked how santa could visit every house in only one night.
-
tonight, in his serious face, he sat down next to me on the couch and sincerely said:
"mom, i have to know about this santa thing because when i get older and married and have kids and i think santas bringing the gifts and he doesn't and what if i was supposed to do it?"
well, what do you say to that?..............
-
i know.
he's nine.
and i'm postponing him growing up.
at least for today.
santa lives on another day.
-
just another everyday memory.
