outside the arena on a warm thursday night.

we shared laughs and smiles.

we shared hugs and kisses.

we shared joy and dreams.

we shared.

36 minutes & 30 seconds into the ceremony.....

i held my breath.

i saw a newborn at sisters hospital.

don't remember it actually after 14 hours of labor only to have an emergency c-section.

but there are photos to prove it.

i saw a newborn with no name after 6 days in the hospital.

really? what were we doing for 9 months?

not reading baby name books apparently.

i didn't breath for that first year.

i saw a kindergartner who borrowed dads wallet in the middle of the night

so we could go to mcdonalds the next day.

i saw you get on that bus the first day of school.

i didn't breath again until you got off that afternoon.

i saw an 8 year old who sat aisles away from us on the 

plane from buffalo to austin on new years eve 2005.

i saw you play soccer, floor hockey, tennis, football, basketball & tackle football.

i never could breath while you were in harms way.

i saw you get your drivers permit and pass your road test.

i lost a couple breathes along the way & got a couple gray hairs in the process.

i saw you work hard, study hard & play hard.

i saw you love life, love God & grow up.

i saw you through a colorful kaleidoscope of living, loving & learning.

i am so proud of watching you dream & grow.

i still held my breath.

and now, very slowly exhaled as your words filled the arena.

and now, very slowly exhaled as your words reached my ears.

and now, very slowly exhaled as your words reached my heart.

and now i breath again.

getting ready to begin.

just a short sippel story while we wait for the ceremony to begin.

we left fairway path at 7pm.

three very full vehicles.

two vehicles went one way.

third vehicle went another route.

third vehicle was driven by me without my glasses.

i had mom, dad & colin in the van.

i broke many, many road rules.

i had my hazzard blinkers on at one point driving down

the shoulder of the road.

i cut off at least 50 cars that were in line for hours.

i sincerely apologized to the many drivers i passed.

i sincerely apologized to my father as he screamed when i made a slightly aggressive move.

i sincerely apologized to the driver i would not let in.

i sincerely apologized to the driver i cut off.

we made it tot he parking lot finally.

i ran without my heels on.

colin, mom and dad closely followed.

security line moved like molasses.

we could see the graduates walking in on the screens.

we could hear the music playing through the arena.

we took the stairs to our suite.

we made it - just in time !

note to self: may want to leave a bit earlier next year for nathan !

550 graduates does mean a little bit if traffic...
