i knew this day was coming.

it has been on the calendar for 17 years.

but i still wasn't prepared for it.

our very first college parent orientation !

steve, justin and i survived the hot, sunny 85 degree day

and toured the campus of UT.

it was a beautiful, insightful and overwhelming

day.

there were kids & parents from all across the country with us.

there were a lot of questions asked & answered.

there was a lot of walking involved.

(note to self - wear flats next time NOT cowboy boots)

ok.

i survived. 

i didn't cry.

i am excited for this next chapter in life.

college tour number one - done.

where will we go next?

the bluebonnets have finally arrived -

just a little later than usual.

colin and i finished "the cay" for his school project.

can't believe i never read this classic.

and i finished "the fringe hours"

and am finding little pockets of lost time throughout the day

that i never knew existed.

last night steve went into the garage at 11pm

only to hear he had a visitor -

a noisy rattle kind of visitor -

all coiled up with his tail in the air -

justin & steve armed with shovels

were on a mission

but were unsuccessful.

so now we have a friend in the neighborhood.

i slept through the whole ordeal

but the guys woke me after the excitement.

i closed the fireplace chute, got a glass of wine, 

turned on the bathroom light & went to bed

with my cell phone in hand.

not sure what i had in mind 

but somehow i felt better returning to bed.

justin hung this sign -

apparently he didn't think a little yellow post-it note

would do the trick!

colin saw the sign on the garage door this morning

and said " i'm not taking out the trash tonight."

nate saw the sign on the garage door this morning

and said "did i miss something?"

i saw the sign & decided not to go into the garage today.

but i kept hearing funny sounds all day long......

looks like the garage is getting a good cleaning!

just finished reading this book.

loved it.

totally made me appreciate the country we live in.

the thickness of this book was intimidating at first,

but i flew through it.

beautifully written.
