sunday photos to reflect on our growing house.

the trees are bigger.

the bushes are bigger.

the mulch is fresh.

the grass is cut.

our house looks like a home these days.

a loved and lived in place of joy & memories.

can't believe we have been here over 6 years!

off to search for those 'baby' house photos to compare.

just finished reading this eye opening

book about real life in mumbai.

it was slumdog millionaire + running the rift put

together in one nonfiction well written story.

katherine boo spent three years living, breathing life

in writing this book.

it is unbelievable to comprehend the life

that these people live.

it is unbelievable in the year 2012 that

this exists in our world.

it is unbelievable that katherine was able to

capture this story is such a raw way.

this was no 'fifty shades of grey' kinda book.

this book will stay with you long after you turn the last page.

another football season is coming to an end :(

today was the superbowl playoffs

and our charger team lost to the bengels

but our shadow team beat the bengels in the superbowl game!

remember - colin is officially on the 3rd-4th grade team

playing up in the 5th-6th grade bracket & they have

so much to be proud of!

we love how hard these guys had to work to get here!

we love how they didn't let size or age overwhelm them!

we love the challenges they faced!

and all the wins they pulled off as a team

despite losing kyle half way thru the season!

great job chargers gold!

superbowl playoffs today.

we dressed in charger colors.

we cheered.

we yelled.

we smiled.

we held on tight.

we lost.

but the boys are winners.

we were able to fit a quick playoff practice in between

the raindrops and mud puddles.

weekend observation.

question: "how to get someone to help me clean the game room?"

answer: "let that someone sell all the no longer played with goodies at

the neighborhood annual spring garage sale yesterday."

colin saw a financial opportunity and spent about 3 hours last weekend

helping me clean the game room.

he worked hard and carefully priced his goods.

he worked in the morning sun saturday for

about 90 minutes on our front sidewalk.

he made some spending cash.

he was excited to earn some money.

he used some trump techniques and

broke down sets into smaller groups to sell.

nice job colin.

clean gameroom too!

now just one trip to goodwill to donate the remaining treasures.

hopewell middle school spring concert tonight at

the round rock performing arts center.

i love these events.

i've been listening to pieces of all the songs all year long

but tonight they all come together to make a

beautiful sound.

i'm still amazed when i hear them play.

i'm still a little sad that justin has decided not

to continue his musical talent in high school.

despite some serious pressure from the high

school music director.

i'm still excited that nathan loves the trumpet

and works very hard at practice

& carrying it back and forth to school everyday.

i'm still enjoying the musical sounds

that fill our house every evening.

i'm still loving the sound that we hear from

the sidewalk as we return home after our evening walks.

i'm still in awe of each precious note.

i'm still loving that they are both in honor band together.

i'm still amazed when i hear them play even though

tonight is their official last night together on the stage.

of this year!

no house plants for me.

no green thumb for me.

no planted flowers for me.

just a tree or two is all i can handle.

and i'm happy to report that they are both still alive.

one lime tree at the front door that will turn one year old this month.

one palm tree on the back patio thats still standing

after two months.

now if i could just get a lime to grow.....

all the books i've been waiting for all seem to come available at once.

why is that always the way?

i just picked up 'behind the beautiful forevers' at the library this week

and look what just dropped into my kindle today.

i've got everything from heavy nonfiction to chic beach read.

a little less blogging and a little more reading is on my

to-do list.

the boys now know the sound of my camera

the boys are growing older & more camera shy.

the boys are appearing less & less on the blog.

the boys do not enjoy daily snapshots.

so this is sometimes how i have to capture

thru the branches.

thru the heat & sunlight.

today its hot and sunny.

today its an early release day.

today its all about running around and having fun.
