the story behind the smile.

on friday, author jacqueline west came to colins school.

colin and i had just finished reading this blue bonnett award winning book

and we wanted to add an autographed paperback copy of her first book

to our library.

after she read a chapter from her new book in the series, spellbound,

she proceeded to hand out the books to those who had purchased them -

but there was no book for a colin sippel.

so,

 you can only imagine the face of this 4th grader when i

picked him up from school last friday.

close to tears, he tells me the story.

well,

what a difference a couple days make!

our wonderful librarian had realized the error and

had tried to catch colin at the end of school on friday

but i had already picked him up.

so,

in addition to the paperback autographed book,

colin also received the hardcover new book to add

to our library as soon as we finish reading it!

i could barely wash this smile of his face tonight!

heres to reading spellbound together over

the next couple weeks!

i felt as if i was in 1937.

i felt like i was friends with each character.

i felt surprised with the whole book.

glad i read it,

it was worth the wait at the public library.

colins successfull flag football season

has come to an end & we celebrated last night at

mighty fine !

nothing better than hearing a coach talk about

each player and we had to guess who he was describing.

"i had no idea this dude could throw a ball till we put him in

as backup one game - he would call the plays in the

huddle & not the ones i would of picked but

he could read a lineup faster than me......"

way to go colin!
