colin was up 30 minutes early to prepare.

ready to sell duct tape wallets - check.

his selling table is ready, the advertising is over, product is stocked.

let the economics project begin!

he had window shopped earlier & was ready with his list.

we went from class to class, looking, buying & filling our

bag with handmade treasures.

good news.

duct tape wallets sold out in the first session.

now we can breathe.

its all about getting lost in a good book.

its all about not being able to put it down.

its all about actually looking forward to quiet time.

its all about reading just because you want to, not because you have to.

yes, i was at barnes & nobles bright and early to pick it up for him.

(no budget when it comes to kids begging for a new book!)

colin and i are reading this classic together.

(we are actually listening to this one on a playaway

from the school library.

where we these things when i went to school?)

nothing is better then sharing an earbud with a third grader.

we are on chapter 19....and i didn't see that coming with old dan.

my latte money today was spent on this 4.00 pile.

350 calories or 1000 pages?

love the library book sale.

no school monday today.

i bet this gecko wishes the boys were at school today.

colin took his picture for an upcoming school project.

hopefully he enjoyed his air conditioned afternoon

in a restoration hardware vase complete with a diet

pepsi cap filled with water.

(we did return him to the front yard at dinnertime so he

could enjoy monday night football with his family)

nathan spent his day off doing productive chores.

nathan is now debit free.

this has been stressful for him.

he had to borrow money for his itouch last month &

the interest free loan has been hanging over his head.

he worked off the last dollars today and

he was so excited updating the ledger that had

been keeping track of his debit and the

source of his restless nights.

watching him write 0.00 was inspirational!

two life lessons today that i hope we have taught

& demonstrated to our boys.

respect our environment &

respect your financial responsibilities.

a glimpse of today.

here. now.

i have grown to love the sound of espn filling our house.

i can not turn on a tv in this house without finding espn on.

when i arrive home in the morning from taking justin to practice,

i am greeted by the sounds of espn and the top ten plays

bouncing off the kitchen walls while colin is sitting

ever so close to the kitchen tv at 6:45am.

when nathan fails to arrive in the kitchen by 7am for

breakfast, i head upstairs only to find him glued to espn and

absorbing an overnight story.

(and yes, espn has lead to more family talks than any

espisode of friends...tiger, vic & ben to name a few)

our newest fad in the sippel household -

pick the winner each week of all the nfl teams playing.

on friday, i print all the sunday/monday games & we each

predict the winning team.

we do not help each other.

we base our choices on various factors.

steve & justin review the season stats.

nathan uses statistical formulas.

colin uses instinct & stats.

i use team colors.

we are having so much fun tracking our wins & losses.

( i actually picked 11 out of 16 winning teams last weekend !!)

((i am pretty excited about the above line.))

its fun to listen to each member defending their team.

its fun to watch who picks the bills & the boys.

loyalty.

it just another everyday memory.

heres colins commercial for his business project for economics.

the duct tape wallets are almost finished.

the business plan is complete.

the advertisement poster is hanging in the hall at school.

we are excited for shopping/selling day on october 15th!

i sent colin to school with his commercial on a memory card.

it didn't work.

nothing worse than picking up a third grader from school with a sad face.

so, we have covered our bases this time around.

on one memory stick.

on one blog.

on one dvd.

hopefully one of them will work tomorrow!

mondays are busy days around here.

mondays are really busy when the sippels have to work

the concession stand.

on these special mondays, we get great parking.

on these special mondays, we wrap pickles, pop popcorn,

make nachos and ice sodas.

i wear a money apron filled with change and serve anxious

parents, candy seeking children and dr. pepper by the case

to teenagers.

nathan was on food duty - when an adult yells a food order, he gets it

and serves it to the customer. not the best position - he knows it - but he

never complains.

colins not allowed to help - so he sits in the back corner

and plays nintendo for 2 hours straight. honest.

one bathroom break included.

after we finish our shift, we run around, buy a ticket

and head into the stadium for justins game.

just in time.

we eat pizza for dinner as we sit in the stadium.

we cheer. we watch. we grab a blanket

from the car as the sun goes down and the lights go on.

we win!

we enjoy another monday afternoon at
