three little letters

our very own 'wegmans' is now right up the street.

this is like christmas in october.

we've waited eight years for this day

and it was worth the wait.

i can already see our grocery budget blown away on gourmet muffins,

homemade soups, mini cheesecakes and chilled champagne!

we wrapped up our summer vacation, drove home, 

 put 15 candles on nathans birthday brownie,

started school, visited hamilton pool

 and said goodbye to carlos & charlies!

fun summer days.

fun vacation celebrations.

fun everyday memories.

reserved this book at the library.

picked it up yesterday.

finished it today.

it was a quick two day read but i did not care

for this fiction story at all.

it was a father dealing with the loss of his teenage daughter and 

although it was well written with long deep sentences it often

felt like he was drunk and depressed when he wrote it - which

was probably the way he wanted it to feel.
just not a book i found myself drawn to.

on tuesday, october 8th as nathan was running out the front door to catch

the school bus, he said "hey mom, i forgot to leave you at post it note reminder - rick riordans

new book is coming out today -  finally!"

well, thats all nathan had to say to a mom who loves to read & gets

just as excited when a new book is available.

by the time he reached the bus, i had already ordered it online for him

from barnes and nobles dot com.

the book arrived on friday, october 11th.

the book was devoured over the weekend

and nathan read all 608 pages in two days.

now thats a good sippel story and obviously a great book!

we quickly get the boys are on their buses this morning.

we pack the car with folding chairs & a mini cooler.

we are headed downtown by 9am.

we are excited.

we have been looking forward to our morning "hooky" all week.

we arrive at our destination.

we can smell the smokers lovingly smoke our brisket.

we share stories with strangers.

we settle in our place in line.

we are psyched.

we snap pictures to document the event.

our ears suddenly perk up....

an employee is walking down the line -

perhaps to take our cocktail order as we wait?

what?!

our place in line won't be served until 1:30pm....

its 9:30am now !

we cry.

we pack it up.

we chat with the folks all the way at the front of the line.

note to self: need to be here at 7am.

franklins bbq - we will be back & we will succeed next time!
